Why Stafford didn't announce this earlier is anyone's guess. But there was a disqualification from the August 14 program (the last event that was run before the rainfest).
This was official for a little under three weeks.
Ryan Posocco was disqualified because the tires that were on the car that night were found to be "chemically altered".
Now, I don't know if track officials found out three weeks ago or recently, but either way, this is something I've never heard of before. In the nine and a half years I've been going to Stafford, I have never heard of anyone chemically altering their tires. I don't know how that benefits a driver.
But alas, this hurts Posocco in the points race. He dropped from first to third in the standings, now 28 points back on leader Jim Peterson. Posocco's also placed on probation until the end of the year and is suspended until he pays a $200 fine.
